> Nov 08 2009--Candombe in Colonia

Introduction made with drums only. Originally from Africa, the Uruguayos (pronounced oo-rah-wah-zho) have made it their national music of the people. Processionals play through the winding streets, across the cobblestones, with the timber and tone become even more intense when going down streets lined on both sides with buildings. Age is unimportant--young and old all enjoy it. And the people in the processional are dancing with their hearts along with their hips. Your diaphram thumps, you can't help but smile, aS the candombe takes over your entire being, and you just have to DANCE!!
